Alison is a pharmacist, currently working full time as specialist palliative care pharmacist for NHS Highland with a strategic, leadership and clinical role across all sectors of care. This follows experience in hospital pharmacy in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS Highland and NHS Grampian as well as education roles within Highland Hospice, NES Pharmacy and College of Pharmacy Practice as well as locum community pharmacy work. Alison has contributed to SIGN guideline, NHS QIS standards and Scottish Palliative Care Guidelines development work.

Alison led an innovative and nationally recognised project funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, developing a new model for provision of pharmaceutical palliative care service using  the skills and contribution of community pharmacists and their staff in supporting people with palliative care needs, and their carers, across all settings.

Involvement at a national level has included contributing over many years to palliative care educational resources developed by NES.
